Important Things to Remember As We Pray

How refreshing it is when we have just pasted through another glorious Easter season, experiencing once again renewing joy that the message of the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ always brings.

However, having just made this observation, we must beware that we do not rest on laurels of a once-a-year renewal of joy, but be strongly and constantly reminded that the enemy of our souls is mightily working everyday to take away the newness, the freshness, and the inspiring joy and spiritual reality which the Easter message brings us each year.  Let us strongly and daily take unto us the whole armor of God that we may stand against the whyles of the devil when he wages serious spiritual warfare against God's Church. We need to intensely study Paul’s instructions concerning waging successful spiritual warfare against Satan and his demons.  These instructions are found in Paul’s Epistle to the Ephesians church, chapter 6, verses 10 - 23.

Most of the pieces in Paul's list of spiritual armor are defensive weapons, by which we can ward off Satan's vicious attacks against us to discourage and destroy us.  The last two weapons in our spiritual armor list are the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and prayer.  With these two powerful weapons we shall invade Satan's kingdom of darkness and evil and by help of God's enabling Spirit when many lost people into God's Kingdom of light and righteousness.

Let us study intensely each piece of God's arsenal of spiritual warfare against Satan, and may we pray and work passionately by God's enabling power to defeat Satan's strategies against us and win the lost, the lonely, and the hurting to our Lord Jesus Christ.

Remember that May has been set aside as the month of passionate prayer, deep repentance of sins, and whole-hearted seeking of God's visitation across our entire nation bringing salvation to the lost, the cleansing and healing grace to believers who need the infilling of His Holy Spirit, and the transformation of the church to a powerful worldwide revival.  Also, note that the National Day of Prayer Breakfast is Thursday, May 5th at 7:30 am for our local church.  Let us fervently pray and that God will use this event to move our hearts powerfully toward revival and the building of His Kingdom in our local church and around the world.  Let as many of us as possible attend and participate whole-heartedly as God speaks to us through this wonderful time of prayer and seeking God.  We need also to be faithful in the prayer programs that will take place this month and the rest of the year by signing the sign up sheets for our prayer vigils; then let us be faithful to the times we have pledged to pray.

Respectfully,

Joe Jordan
